You must start a new project using the Projects option, (not the Relux Express option), you must start using the Projects section. Choose room type 'polyganal', this gives a blank working plane and a cursor that allows you to draw any shape room you wish. Once the room is defined you can edit nodes on the floor plan or you can edit points in the Edit Room table. How do I get a zonal cavity calculation? This is part of Easylux, and can be started from the initial opening screen, or the Easylux option on the Luminaires menu. How do I look at individual items and individual results in a project? The left window of ReluxProfessional has 3 tabs labelled 'Objects', 'Project' and 'Output', clicking on these tabs gives access to detailed information. These tabs can be turned on or off by selecting the main menu item 'Window', and checking or unchecking the appropriate item in the sub menu. How do I select and change the properties of the output pages? Select the menu option sequence 'File' 'Print Manager' In the 'Available outputs' frame, click the printer icon next to the output you would like to include. In the 'Current print outputs' frame, select the page you would like to change, then click properties. Specifically, from the Print manager window: How do I see LG3 (LG7) values? Room: Result Overview: Reference plane 1: Properties: Results Overview: checkbox Display LG3 values on the overview How do I change the reporting accuracy / number of significant figures / number of decimal places? Properties: decimal places. How do I change the placement grid? In the floor plan window, select the menu item 'Edit', then 'Properties', then 'Origin and placing grid' (or select the green grid and arrows icon), then enter the values you require. How do I change the dimensions of a room (scene)? 'Project' 'Edit Scene' How do I insert a ceiling grid? Using the placement grid, set the properties for your grid (e.g. 0.6m), the placement points are the centre of the grid, you can then only add luminaires on these centres. If you want to add lines on the ceiling, use the same grid, but offset by 0.3m to give the edges, & draw lines. How do I insert and manipulate a background picture? File > Import > Background Image How do I insert and manipulate a CAD plan? File > Import > CAD plan How do I calculate light on the surface of an object: Select the object, right click and select 'properties', go to the 'extended' tab, check the 'Output' box on the required surface. How do I open projects created in previous versions of the program? We recommend that you always use the latest version of the program. Each version will open projects from the previous version. While backwards compatibility is maintained in this manner, forward compatibility is not, this means that old programs may not be able to open new projects (depending on features used in a project). How do I change the texture and colours of an imported object? Click on the project tab and select the imported object. Select the partial object (complex objects may import as multiple partial objects), this will give you access to the normal texture and colour change controls. How do I change the project location to calculate the effects of sunlight? Go to 'Project' 'Orientation' to select or add a location. This location then appears in the 'Calculation' 'Daylight Calculation' 'Schedule' window, and in the Calculation' 'Economics' 'Daylight' 'Sun Probability' window, How do I perform an emergency calculation? In the 'Luminaire selection' window choose 'Luminaire type' then select your luminaire. Click on the 'emergency lighting' button to open the 'Configure luminaire for emergency lighting' window. Check the field that describes how the luminaire will operate, e.g. 'luminaire used for both emergency and normal artificial lighting'. Define the emergency output of the luminaire by entering either the emergency lumens. or the percentage of output and the pressing the 'Luminous flux for emergency lighting' button, (Note that this is how much light is emitted from the luminaire, so a 20% output from a single lamp in a 4 lamp fitting would be 20% / 4 = 5%). Then press the 'OK' button in the 'luminaire used for both emergency and normal artificial lighting' window, then the 'OK' button in the 'Luminaire selection' window. In the 'Control centre', select the luminaire, then check the box 'Emergency lighting on/off'. Click the box 'New', and add a 'Reference plane for emergency lighting' or an escape route (or both). When doing a 'Calculation' using 'artificial light', choose as calculation 'Mode' 'emergency lighting calculation'. Why can I import some 3ds file, but not others? The filename extension ".3ds" is used for files produced by 3dStudio and also by 3dStudioMax. 3dStudio is supported, 3dStudioMax is not supported. Where is the Hide / Freeze Icon Right click on an item in the scene tab brings up Hide and Lock command. Why can't the 'Set Coordinates' for origin and raster width be set to a negative value? Because of the new movement and rotation controls of the working plane, the original single function icon is now seperated into 2 Icons. The Green Tri-directional icon is used to set the properties of the working plane including the the origin and elevation and rotation properties of the working plane. The origin can be set to negative coordinates to move the origin of the working plane outside of the room boundary. The new Spanner Grid icon (labelled 'Raster Properties') next to the Green Tri-arrow has controls for the snap grid and the drawing grid. How do I add and move wall sections in a room? See picture ChangeRoom.jpg. Select the 'Add Node' tool. Click on the inside black line of the grey room outline to add a node. Select the node and drag it to a new position. Where are the Field, row and circle placement menus? Place a single luminaire, right click on the placesd luminaire, from the context menu select 'create group' and the field placement menus will appear. New Functionality; the outline of the field, row, circle etc. can now be dragged dynamically to create the group placement.
